Infrastructure
A reliable network starts with how you use it.
Equipment, access and documentation: the basics of organizing your environment.
A business network connects people, software and equipment. Before adding hardware, it helps to understand the activities that depend on that connection.
Identify your needs
List workstations, printers, phones and mobile devices. Note the areas to cover, applications in use and problems observed, including how often they happen.
Organize access
Employees, visitors and some devices do not necessarily need the same resources. Network segmentation helps define suitable access boundaries.
Document the installation
Keep a diagram, an equipment inventory and key configurations. Passwords should be managed in a suitable tool, separately from widely shared documentation.
Test essential situations
Check coverage in the areas people actually use, access to applications and phone system operation. A test from a single office does not represent every use.
A practical starting point: list your equipment, spaces and common incidents before deciding on improvements.
